Condoms do not protect against AIDS

This dissertation was inpired after reading "Condoms - The solution for Africa?" I do not believe condoms are the solution for diminishing the spread of HIV anywhere on Earth. Am an alumnus of DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia; where one of my core classroom textbooks was entitled, "Social Issues and Technology" This class was mind-blowing about modern technology. One class discussion focused on applications of modern medicine, i.e., mothers being surrogate carriers of their daughter's fertilized embryo because the daughter's health consistently failed to support term pregnancy; or a women in her late 60s deciding to have a child, because she changed her mind about motherhood. During a particular class session; the Professor bluntly shared that prophylactics aka condoms, do not protect against HIV. The professor demonstrated in class how they do not protect. The class was asked to make a circle with their "index finger and thumb" and explained; that represented the smallest pore in a prophylatic. The professor held up a No. 2 pencil and stated, it represented a single HIV virus; then queried, "How much protection is that?" Ofcourse the answer was, NONE. Years after graduating from DeVry, I distinctly remember a news broadcast, regarding the Coca Cola Corporation, donating a plane load of condoms to Africa; their effort in helping the country slow down the spread of HIV. I remembered the former classroom demonstration and thought to myself, "Those executives must not know, that condoms practically does nothing to stop the spread of the HIV virus. The only benefit of using condoms is to diminish the number of pregnancies." Also not convinced using condoms protect against the Human Papilloma Virus.

Sorry to disagree with you Jazlive but this is a grossly ill-informed intel that could prove extremely harmful to the welfare of any reader who reads it and believes it. It is a well-known scientific fact that condoms are extremely effective against HIV and people should be encouraged to use them. Ask your professor this: why is it that the spread of HIV has slowed down in the developed world but has continued to rise dramatically in countries like Africa? The answer, though your professor would deny it, is condoms.

"Although condoms have a effectiveness around 90% one problem is the flase safety, this is a problem observed in Zimbabwe, the use of condoms increased but still the number of new HIV patient were still in the same level."
