Excema ~ My eldest son

First I like to thank the member who submitted intel entitled "Eczema, causes, symptoms and treatment" ~ very good information.

My eldest son was a head-to-toe chronic case. His symptoms first appeared just past the age of 2. I suspect "separation anxiety" triggered the beginning of his suffering.

There are a lot of personal family background stressors I prefer not to share openly in public; however, family history does include ~

allergies:

foods - dairy products, wheat, eggs
environment - animal hair, dust, certain trees, the smell of food cooking (fish, wild game (deer meat) chitterlings ...
medications - reverse polarity (if the med generally makes users sleep, some family members get hyper)

common medical history:

hypertension
sinusitis
over active digestive system

None of us (mother, father and siblings, children and grands) are over-weight; are collectively work-a-holics and have artistic talents: music, artists (paint, wood sculpting ...) orators, comics, writers, dance ...

My eldest son was treated with a series of shots (one in each arm) that gradually diminished over time. My daughter (previous marraige) does not have excema but does have a skin ailment that flares when she is stressed.

In my current marraige, our only son also suffers atopic excema (I had survived two atopic pregnancies; the first required emergency surgery to save my life and the second dicipated without medical intervention); his first symptoms appeard around 17 months and was consuming "oatmeal" prior to the first symptom. He was still on simulac milk at time of first rashes. I did pump breast milk and had plenty in storage prior to meds to stop producing. I worked; attended college and was a long-distance Mom to both my eldest children, who lived with my mother 170 miles from me. It's a family thing, children of failed marraiges ~ lives with Grandmother.

The doctor that treated my eldest son, has an atopic precription lotion, that clears up open rashed skin in under four days. Raw areas stayed closed more days than mainstream prescriptions. My eldest son's skin (head-to-toe) was so raw, he could not wear clothes around the house, just a onsie undershirt. The only unaffected areas was his face; upper chest area; diaper area (use 100% cotton ONLY diapers prior to first symptoms and terry cloth underpants afterward); palms of hands and bottom of feet. When we did dress him, we had to loosly wrap his arms, trunk and legs with saran plastic food wrap to keep clothes from sticking to the raw weeping skin.

The prescription lotion also stopped itching. We perferred this over oral medications, because we feared addition. This doctor has tried to submit his formula to the open market but has been turned down and is restricted from disbursing the releif to anyone except his patients.

He practically became allergic to all foods (processed, store foods, including the frozen kinds), mostly consumed rice products and simulac milk. Thank God I have a sibling who has always been a nutrition advocate. He came up with other recipes that helped my eldest son.

The doctor that treated my eldest son, also suffers from excema; shot therapy did have steroids; we were counciled there could possibly be risk of him becoming a father in the future.

As my eldest son approched his first harmone change, he did suffer kidney infection and was hospitalized for a couple of days. That was it. He will be celebrating his 29th birthday and his daugher will be celebrating her 4th birthday in December 2008. She is generally healthy; does have seasonal asthma (lung) attacks. I praise Jesuha, they are not year round. My son is also a new father. A healthy baby boy arrived 90 days before my own birthday ~ November 11th :-D
