Gas Price Wars in Cobb County Georgia, USA

Saturday, July 24th in Cobb County, Georgia [GA]; two gas stations (Shell and Marathon) entered into a gas price war. These stations are located at the intersection of Lost Mountain and Powder Spring Streets in the community of Powder Springs located in Cobb County, GA. The operator of the Shell station, offered 50 cent gas to his customers to show appreciation. His rival Marathon, immediately offered 40 cents to its patrons. Vehicles wrapped around for blocks, of these two stations, for about five hours. Local news station WSB-TV Channel 2; interviewed the operator of the Marathon station; who stated, he may repeat the appreciation to his customers on Labor Day. He also stated he may have a DJ for entertainment and offer food to his patrons. WSB-TV also interviewed a couple of happy patrons, who bragged about filling their tanks; a car for less than $7.00 US and a SUV for less than $15.00. I plan to be hanging around these stations on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2010, hoping to purchase gas for less than current average prices and pass out a few business cards :-) |

I guess it wouldn't pay to drive from Chattanooga to Atlanta just to fill up
Oh my, it cost $30.00-$35.00 to fill my gas tank here in California... mercy!
