Groundhog Day 2011
By Jan Green
February 2nd, annually ... Groundhog Day is a national tradition, hoping for a sign to indicate the arrival of Spring. Local favorite groundhogs becomes specticals on this day to predict whether or not Winter will be extended for an additional six weeks. The most famous Groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania, made it's debut among a small crowd, who braved current blizzard conditions. Officals shared ... an early Spring. The official groundhog in my community is: General Beauregard Lee: The University of Georgia awarded this groundhog a "Doctor of Weather Prognostication" ... as of this intel share, No Official predition has been released. Personally, I can not resist punding this annual tradition at this time for the blizzard conditions in mid-Northeasteran states, including Pennsylvania and foggy rainy weather in my area (Southeastern state). My personification of what each groundhog would think upon exiting it's hybernation comfort hole this morning. Punxsutawney Phil: "WTF" (What the Freak)? There's snow, ice and strong winds, I'm up too early! General Beauregard Lee: "OMG" (Oh my god); I overslept, is it April already? |
