No Rush to Winterize Home ~ Jaz-Hoo By Jan Green of Jaz Live Cash Culture In DeKalb County, Georgia, we are getting a late start on winterizing our home because it has been unseasonably warm; the last several weeks. Plastic insulation for patio doors and windows was accomplished on the 9th of November. This is usually done by the end of September. So far this year, season chores to prepare for winter has been off schedule, due to unusual warm temparatures for the last six weeks. Sweaters are too hot at this time, long sleeves are more comfortable. It has also been an unusual amount of rain. We had been in drought conditions for several years, I am sure excess rains in September and October has exceeded the amounts of deficit recordings for many of the strems; rivers and lakes in our state. Grass was still growing and leaves were still very green; weeks ago, fall colors are just beginning to happen in my neighborhood. There was also parcipitation via snow, also unusual for this area, in March this year. My Easter Lilies were covered.
