World Court
The International Court of Justice aka World Court, was chartered in 1945 by the United Nations, succeeding the Permanent Court of International Justice. Not to be confused with the International Criminal Court, World Court predominate function is to settle legel disputes, submitted by member states and provide advisory opinions for the same. The United States withdrew from World Court jurisdiction in 1986; thus, chooses what to accept on a case-by-case base. The court is comprised of 15 judges; elected for nine year terms. Nominations are submitted by member national groups in the Permanent Court of Arbritration. Elections are held every three years. At least a third of the 15 judges terms expries during this cycle and judges can be re-elected up to two times, in addition to their initial term. Of the 15 judges, two can not belong to the same national.
